San Diego is Beautiful!

Last weekend my girlfriend and I attended a wedding in San Diego at the Natural History museum. That was an awesome venue btw, the cocktail hour in the fossil exhibit was a special treat! Anyways, we definitely enjoyed our couple of days in the city with a nice brunch and a stroll down by the waterfront. We’ve been there a couple times but every time I’m reminded of why I love going there. And also reminded how many homeless people there are there, but that’s a different problem..

I didn’t really take many photos but there is my STi parked out front of our Airbnb. It was the perfect vehicle for the highway cruise down the 405 at off hours to avoid traffic. Thankfully both ways were under two hours from/to LA so it was an easy trip. It rained on the way down so I’m glad we weren’t able to take the Miata.

Being in Texas now makes me miss the ocean, the beaming sun, and my vehicles. I’m home tomorrow for a nice long weekend where I hope to fix the Miata, do some driving, and finally get to relax at home. What I really miss is making a home cooked meal with my girlfriend. The paid for meals here are nice but I do actually enjoy cooking for myself and it’s surely a bit healthier.

What do you plan on fixing on the Miata this weekend? I’ll be working on Saturday if you need to borrow some tools or need any help if you want to drive it down. And if you do borrow some tools you can see my new stupidly large toolbox.

Thanks. Just putting in spark plugs. Seeing as one shot out of the engine bay. Not sure why but Friday I will put in the new ones and see if anything else goes wrong. Might have been improperly torqued and just worked it’s way out eventually but it sure was an odd problem.

I’ve always liked San Diego. I actually give them credit for having the friendliest homeless folks I’ve ever come across. On some level, I’d like to think that if you’re going to live outdoors, San Diego has to be one of the better places to do it.

Haha you know what it did! I actually recall that now that you think about it and it was the Miata. Maybe I have an actual problem then since that car was an absolute turd on that top gear special.

I just do not drive the Miata with the top up. Any conditions that warrant top up means the car is not driven. Thankfully those days are few and far in between though in Socal. Mostly just “winter” nights are about the only time I dont really want top down here if I am gonna be on the freeway.

Yup, that is where the Natural history museum is so I was there! I’ve been to the zoo there in the past and a few other museums too. Its a nice park for sure.

I’ve been used to NJ my whole life and spending at least 50% of my winter time in Vermont. So this sure is a change! I loved the midnight sunset in Norway when I visited in June. It was totally unexpected too since I didnt know about it at all. So it was confusing as shit to see bright sunlight at 9pm and wonder if my clock was just wrong.

They seem to be on fewer drugs than the homeless in Hollywood. But there sure are a lot of them. I imagine it’s a constant problem for the city.

Make sure you drive down the coastal communities as well and along with the Bay. It’s what got me to stay here after my stint in the military, along with the legal lane splitting of course on my motorcycle.

Oh here we never get to midnight sunset...a little after 10 is about as late as it gets. But that’s still awesome though. I live in Edmonton, Alberta.
